ATRIUM Architects
Since we put a pause on hosting retreats during the winter, we haven't been slacking! Right now, we are currently working on the drawings for the buildings we want to create at Yggdrasil. The designs are made by the drawing room Atrium Architects, and they are brewing together a really cool 3D video that will take you through the Yggdrasil structures. It's on a very rough scale right now, but if you want to check the video out, here is a link: ATRIUM Architects
If some of you have followed our journey from the beginning, you will maybe remember our post about visiting Dysskekilde Eco-Village. It is a beautiful co-op with huge biodiversity, both between the animals and plants, but also the people who live there. Next to their village, they are in fact building a whole new village, beginning from scratch. It doesn’t look like much right now: there are only a few houses standing in the middle of nowhere. But in some years it will be a green and buzzing little society of people and animals. When I was visiting I began chatting with a guy who turned out to be the entrepreneur of one of those wooden houses.
We realized that we had the same vision of creating a world that is non-invasive in its approach to nature. Some months ago we had a meeting with him and the architects behind the house he was building, and we began looking into the buildings at Yggdrasil Sanctuary. How could we build a 100% regenerative retreat center that is not alone neutral to nature, but actually healing it as well?
The architect who was tasked this job is Mikael Krøll, and he has now joined the tribe as one of our Elders. Since then we have had several excursions to Yggdrasil with him, listening to the nature around us, asking the trees for permission to build there. Trying to figure out how we can build a place that seems to rise from the undergrowth of the forest itself.
As we are designing these buildings we hope to create a kind of display for the visitors, so they can see that it is possible to actually live as one with nature, just like our ancestors, without compromising comfort!
We hope to begin raising construction funds at the beginning of the new year.
Thank you for reading our blog and if you want to be updated about our progress, please join our tribe by signing up for our newsletter. We wish you all a great week and remember - you are the Universe contemplating itself! So be curious! Ask questions, investigate and enjoy the ride called life!
